Five years ago (impossible! yet true!) Thai concept artist, illustrator, and visual development artist Narupiti Harunsong permitted us to use a stunningly intense image of gods dwarfing the solar system for our cover art. Delighted now to be able to share another, this time depicting the mythic Monkey King emerging from his cloud – a picture no less full of activity, yet which somehow makes me feel serene when I look at it. Find more of Narupiti’s art at Instagram and Artstation!
With one exception! Front and centre of the redesign is the new Mythaxis icon, which you can see large as life below! Reminiscent of a molecule or, more specifically, an orrery, it is inspired by a real-world monument to the memory of our founding editor, Gil Williams, erected by his wife Beryl. This icon (and a variety of others that will decorate our stories) were created by past and future fiction contributor Addison Smith, who also does visual design in the publishing sphere.
